Kaywoodie Collector, Large Bent Apple Estate Briar Pipe, 4 Hole
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
Speaking of collectors, this particular Kaywoodie is from the Collector’s line, a short-lived line produced in 1968-9. The Collector’s pipes were a series of higher-grade pipes in shapes that were different from Kaywoodie’s standard catalog, created by incorporating freehand techniques in their production. They were also, as evinced by this pipe, typically much larger than other Kaywoodies (see the last picture for a size comparison). This one is a staggering 7.5 inches in length, with a very generous bowl capable of providing hours of smoking pleasure.
As you may have guessed, Kaywoodie Collector’s pipes are rare specimens from the American make – and consequently live up to their name, especially today. Despite some minor rim darkening, this pipe is in great shape, 50 years after being made. It also has Kaywoodie’s famous and much coveted four hole stinger.
