Who is, or was, K. Johansen? My research from the limited information available is that he is – or, again, was – Danish and that he made Danish “freehand” style pipes. And from looking at this one, he was very good at it. The straight grain on this very large piece is practically magisterial, and the shaping is far more interesting than first appears, with a form reminiscent of the traditional skater, or perhaps a ship’s bow.
The condition is great. Some inner rim darkening.
