Jesse Jones 2022 Sandblasted Prince w/ Tamper Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Jesse Jones is a Texan artisan, and one of the most prominent figures in the American handmades scene. A lifelong smoker of pipes, Jones first began making them in 2010. In 2014, he was offered a job at the Ohio pipe shop Smokers’ Haven, which included doing pipe restoration work and carving pipes alongside and with Premal Chheda. Jones went solo in 2016, later founding his own pipe shop, which he continues to operate to this day. He has won numerous pipe-making competitions in the years since.
Jesse Jones is a relatively rare breed among American artisans. While he is certainly capable of carving the great Danish shapes, he instead prefers the more traditional designs of English pipe-making, with especial admiration for the pipes of Dunhill and Ashton. Though it sports a more modern color palette, this particular Jones incorporates the best qualities of both makes, with a form similar to Dunhill’s early princes (this one looks to be based on the FE quaint shape if I’m not mistaken) and a ring grain sandblast that wouldn’t look out of place on a prized Bill Taylor piece. As an additional touch, a matching briar and ebonite tamper was included with this pipe.
This pipe is completely unsmoked and comes with its original sleeve and, as mentioned, matching tamper.
