Description
Having a high-end briar cutter for a father-in-law, along with a pipe-maker for a brother-in-law, Tonino Jacono began making pipes, in collaboration with his two extended family members, in 1981. In 1983, he started his own pipe workshop in Marche, Italy, founding the Jacono brand. After over four decades in the craft, Tonini continues to create high-grade pipes in the Italian style.
Reminiscent of the early Castello Sea Rock finish, Jacono’s Knight finish is a wonderfully craggy, tactile rendition of that great Italian tradition: high grade rustication. This one looks to have been one of Tonino’s light, almost naked variations, with a warm patina having developed during its time as a faithful companion. A reliable smoker, if I ever saw one.
The condition is good. Some wear to the rim, including a small spot of char, but nothing major.
