Irish Seconds Smooth Straight Bulldog Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Irish Seconds is a seconds make used by Peterson. The pipes are functionally equivalent to the world-famous pipes sold under the Peterson name, but have very minor visual imperfections that do not meet Peterson’s exacting aesthetic standards. In other words, Irish Seconds are a chance to buy a Peterson pipe at a lower cost.
This Irish Seconds looks like it was destined to become one of Peterson’s Natural-finish high grades, but for one or two knots in the surface of the briar. The question, then, is ‘which shape was this going to be?’ It’s more squat than Peterson’s ‘150’ straight bulldog, but it doesn’t have the slight bend of the ‘Hudson’ from the Sherlock Holmes series. It doesn’t look like the early 493 bulldog either. I guess this is your chance to get your hands on a Peterson bulldog that is distinct unto itself!
The condition is very good. There’s some minor tooth chatter on the vulcanite stem, and some minor inner rim darkening, but I see nothing else of note in that regard. It should make for a fantastic, sturdy workhorse.
