Eclesias Smooth Canadian Handmade Briar Pipe, New
Out of stock
Description
Czech artisan Pavel “Eclesias” Holub is one of the most recent talents to make his MBSD Pipes debut, though he’s far from unknown in the community. As I mentioned in the other listing of his today, I—like so many others—have been following his work for years, and to be honest I’m not sure why I didn’t reach out sooner. Better late than never, I guess. This particular pipe of his is quite special, as Holub’s portfolio is largely comprised of sandblast finishes (including his signature, jagged contrast blast), but in the case of this one, I can see why he chose to leave the briar polished and lightly stained. The result is a freehand, straight grain Canadian reminiscent of something Barry Jones might have turned for Charatan or James Upshall, with a hand cut cumberland stem to complement its blazing stummel. On a last note, as with the best Canadians, this one is a featherweight, making it an ideal clencher.
