Dunhill 2001 Ring Grain 4903 Sandblasted Nosewarmer Estate Briar Pipe, English Esates
Out of stock
Description
To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.
The “4903” is by no means a common shape in Dunhill’s current catalog. Typically under 4 inches in length, it is what pipe smokers have come to affectionately know as a “nosewarmer,” or perhaps a “moustache burner” if you’re so inclined. This particular 4903 is even more extraordinary than usual, however, as it is dressed in a Ring Grain grade of Dunhill’s iconic Shell Briar finish. Why it received this additional accolade is easy to discern; the finish is both craggy and impressively uniform, approaching a consistency I’m more used to seeing on the pipes of J.T. Cooke than Dunhill.
The condition is very good. Some darkening and finish fading on the rim. The pipe comes with its original box and sleeve.
