Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies. Gresham Giants was a sub-brand made by Comoy’s, being comprised of pipes that were, as the name suggests, larger than average.

With proportions not dissimilar to Dunhill’s famed LB pipes, this Gresham Giants is a suitably sturdy take on the classic English billiard. The cherry-red stain is colorful, but subdued, which pairs well with the pipe’s jet-black vulcanite stem. As the pipe is a Comoy’s sub-brand, there are minor cosmetic imperfections, but as it is nonetheless a Comoy’s pipe, they are purely superficial and will not stop the pipe from being a trusty smoker.
