Comoy’s Christmas 1979 Smooth Bent Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Out of stock

Description

Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.

While Christmas pipes today are more readily associated with Savinelli or Peterson, the great English (or in this case, English-French) makes have been putting out limited edition seasonal offerings for far longer than either. Though, as far as I’m aware, Comoy’s stopped making Christmas pipes in the 2010s, the make had been producing them since the 1970s at least. This one is from 1979, and is an interesting bent Dublin with a sweeping, horn-like curvature.

The condition is great. Some very minor inner rim darkening and a few worn-out fills.
