Claudio Cavicchi C Grade Smooth Horn Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
In 1974, after growing impatient waiting for a pipe he’d ordered, Claudio Cavicchi decided he would simply make his own pipe instead. The former farmer from Bologna, Italy, spent the next 15 years making pipes, until his work took off and received widespread acclaim. Cavicchi’s pipe-making exploits have only become more renowned in the decades since, while his pipe-smoking exploits have earned him 1st place in numerous slow-smoking competitions.
The horn is not a shape typically associated with Italian pipe-making, but it is one that Claudio Cavicchi has undoubtedly mastered. It is a shape he has also managed to transform into something quintessentially Italian; dressed in a light, blonde stain and embodying a softer, more refined curvature from rim to button, it’s a far cry from many of Cavicchi’s European cousins (whose pipes I, of course, also like), and something that wouldn’t look out of place paired with an espresso and a biscotti as one whiles away the morning at a riverfront cafe.
The condition is excellent. Some very minor darkening on the inner lip of the rim, and some very minor handling marks.
