Charles Fairmorn Large Panel Estate Briar Pipe, Handmade in England, 9mm [SOLD OUT]

Description
Charles Fairmorn is a German tobacco company that has, on occasion, commissioned renowned pipe makers to make Fairmorn-brand pipes. Among these pipe makers have been Danish artisans Age Bogelund and Hans ‘Former’ Nielsen, and the British pipe company BBB.
I confess, this Charles Fairmorn pipe is a bit of a mystery to me. I’ve seen pipes made for Charles Fairmorn by Age Bogelund and Former, and this isn’t one of them. It also isn’t like the pipes made for Fairmorn by BBB, as those were recognizably factory-made pipes. The BBB pipes were also stamped ‘Made in England’, along with a shape number, whereas this pipe is stamped ‘Hand Made in England’ and has no shape number. The lack of a shape number makes sense, as this pipe was – as the stamping suggests – made by hand, making it a unique, artisan creation. But which British artisan – I’m afraid I don’t know. For Fairmorn to commission them, the maker must have been highly accomplished and regarded.
I don’t suppose it matters much. The pipe speaks for itself. It’s quite a stunning, very large, straight grain freehand, with a plateau rim and a four panel bowl. The grain is wonderfully utilized, the light blonde stain doing as much as possible to emphasize it and not smother it. The pipe is also completely unsmoked, having an undisturbed bowl coating applied to the bottom half of the chamber for ease when breaking it in.
The pipe is chambered for 9mm filters, but would accommodate an adapter for non-filtered use. If you would like an adapter to be included with the pipe, please let us know when you purchase it.
