Celius Root Pawn 11 Sandblasted Bent Dublin Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Celius pipes were hand made in the workshop of Svend Axel Celius, one of the first generation of iconic carvers in the Danish style that emerged in the mid-20th century. Beginning his career under Poul Rasmussen and Sven Knudsen, Celius later started his own brand of pipes using his last name, while also occasionally carving pipes for Denmark’s famous pipe houses Pipe-Dan and W.Ø. Larsen.
I’m a huge fan of Danish pipe-making, but I’ve never seen a Celius with its original box before. It’s genuinely impressive how much thought and effort went into presentation back during the heyday of Denmark’s artisan scene. The pipe itself is a classic Celius design, being a freehand Dublin with a plateau rim and a fancy ebonite stem. It also has an excellent, ring grain sandblast. But the fact that it came with a wooden, clam-shell box shows just how much care went into artisan pipe-making back in the day.
The condition is mint. I see no issues that need highlighting. It also comes with its original box, as pictured.
