Castello Sea Rock 32 KK Rusticated Canadian Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco “Kino” Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as “the Italian Dunhill.”
Of all of the high-grade rusticated pipe series sold today, Castello’s Sea Rock Briar may well be the most popular. This is particularly impressive, considering that there are many high-grade makes in Italy alone that offer rusticated finishes. This particular Sea Rock is quite unique, owing to its amber-hued Lucite stem – something uncommon for Castello pipes. Judging by the uppercase “K” size grading, uppercase “K” size stamping, it was made somewhere between the end of the 1960s and the early-1980s. This was back when the late Carlo Scotti himself oversaw Castello’s production. This Castello also has a patent number, though I’m not sure why.
The condition is very good. Some rim charring.
