Castello “Castello” KKKK Smooth Bent Egg Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

Out of stock

Description

Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco ‘Kino’ Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as ‘the Italian Dunhill.’

Castello’ “93” bent egg is a pretty unique shape within the workshop’s catalog, being a long, slender, almost demi-warden design, with an egg-shaped bowl and an acrylic army mount. It has a certain early Danish feel rarely found elsewhere in Castello’s output, which otherwise focuses on distinctly Italian renditions of more traditional shapes. This “Castello” 4 (out of 4) “K” grade version is furthermore dressed in the workshop’s own interpretation of a golden contrast finish, creating further parallels with their northern European cousins.

The condition is great. Some minor darkening and finish fading on the rim. This Castello comes with its original box and sleeve.
