Castello “Castello” K Smooth Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

Out of stock

Description

Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco ‘Kino’ Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as ‘the Italian Dunhill.’

While Castello is a distinctly Italian make, this particular Castello leans closer to the classic English pipes of old. It is a traditional – albeit muscular – apple, dressed in a beautiful golden contrast finish evocative of those of BBB, Comoy’s, or Charatan in their prime. This stain accentuates the brilliant flame grain patterns of the briar, which are complemented nicely by a modest, jet-black Lucite stem.

The condition is great. Some minor darkening and finish fading on the rim. Having been sent to us via our trade-in program, this Castello also comes with its original sleeve.
