Caminetto Business 101 KS, Rusticated Brandy Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Caminetto was, and is to this day, a decisive figure in the history of Italy’s pipe workshop tradition. After spending time developing their skills in the Castello workshop, Sergio Ascorti and Luigi Radice left to found their own venture, which they named, ‘Caminetto.’ Here, Ascorti and Radice were able to create their own now-classic shapes and finishes, such as the rusticated ‘business,’ and the carved, wax-drip ‘new dear.’
This particular Caminetto is of the ‘Business’ line, indicating a rusticated finish in the Italian style, though one more rugged than, for example, Castello or Becker offer. It’s a ‘King Size’ stout and muscular billiard, with bowl proportions almost nearing those of the Danish style, but it also possesses the playful use of color that more accurately typifies the Cantu-based make. In this case, the dark burgundy-brown stain of the bowl has been paired with an almost equally dark velour-hued lucite stem.
I don’t see much to complain about as far as condition goes. This appears to be an older Caminetto, but it is well preserved. There may be a hair of inner rim darkening, but that might just be the stain. Pipes like these last forever though – I would feel comfortable categorizing this one as a ‘smoking machine.’
