Blatter XL Sandblasted Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Canadian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Alongside Julius Vesz, Phillip Trypis, and John Calich, Blatter is one of the pre-eminent names within the history of Canadian handmade pipes. But it is the Blatter name that has thus far endured for the longest time within that history. This is because the Blatter family have been in the business of making and selling pipes for over 120 years. In fact, last I checked, Blatter pipes were made by Patrick Blatter, who, as far as I’m aware, is the only example of a fifth-generation pipe-maker ever.
Based on the stamping and stem logo, this particular Blatter will have been made after 1990, which should place it as having come from the hands of Robert and/or Patrick Blatter. It’s a nice, extra large bent billiard in the Anglo-French mold, with a sizeable chamber, a dense, tan sandblast, and a vulcanite stem.
The condition is very good. Minor rim darkening and very slight finish fading.
