Ben Wade Ambassador 79 Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
Ben Wade was founded, as might be expected, by Leeds-based English pipe merchant Benjamin Wade in 1860. Soon after, Wade opened his own workshop to produce quintessentially British pipes. As one of the first makes to create pipes from briar, Ben Wade has a special place in pipe history, one only made more special by the famously high-quality of their output.
This particular Ben Wade is a highly traditional saddle bent billiard, except for one thing – a golden swirl acrylic stem, reminiscent of the amber and Bakelite used in pipes of old. It shows off some nice bird’s-eye grain patterns, complemented well by a light, brown stain.
The condition is good overall. There are a few superficial scratches, concentrated mostly on the pipe’s rim, but nothing that won’t stop the pipe from being a reliable smoker.
