Description
If you’re familiar with Becker pipes, it’s highly unlikely that you haven’t heard of the Musico name. Giorgio Musico, a dedicated advocate of their craftsmanship and the manager of the renowned Carmignani shop in Rome, began acquiring every pipe that Fritz and Paolo Becker could offer him from the moment he first encountered their work in 1979. This passion led to the establishment of both the Becker & Musico pipe shop in Rome and the Becker & Musico pipe brand. The latter was the fruit of a collaboration between Giorgio Musico’s son, Massimo Musico, and Paolo Becker, driven by Giorgio Musico’s deep appreciation for classic pipe shapes. These exceptional pipes were meticulously crafted in the rear workshop of the Becker & Musico shop, which Massimo and Paolo jointly operated.
However, in 2002, Paolo decided to fully devote himself to the creation and development of Becker pipes. Massimo, on the other hand, continued to manage the Becker & Musico shop and craft Becker & Musico briar pipes. The production, though, became more limited without Paolo’s direct involvement. Eventually, a solution emerged with the introduction of “Foundation,” the name stamped on the Musico pipes you’ll find here. This venture was also a collaborative effort, but on a broader scale, involving Massimo, Giorgio, and a team of carefully chosen Italian artisans, including Gian Maria Gamboni, Flavio Benucci, and Fabio Marchese. And thus, the story of Foundation by Musico began.
