BBB Tortoise 765 Smooth Bullmoose Briar Pipe, Unsmoked [SOLD OUT]

Description
‘BBB’ originally stood for ‘Blumfeld’s Best Briars’, so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Alfred Frankenau Company in 1856. Later, the pipes came to be known as ‘Britain’s Best Briars’. Though the name might have changed, the quality of the pipes did not – they really were fantastic pipes, made in the classic style of the English-French shape chart. Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, BBB are pipes with a rich history behind them, proudly holding the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.”
While the bullmoose shape is often associated with GBD, BBB had their own take on the shape, as shown here. It’s a decidedly squat and chubby bent Rhodesian, with a saddle stem and a nice, full hand-feel. This BBB bullmoose is dressed in the make’s Tortoise finish, a tortoise-shell like contrast stain of brown, orange, and gold, and completed by an acrylic stem in a mother of pearl hue. Judging by the brass rondelle in the stem and the nomenclature on the shank, this BBB was produced before the make’s merger with Cadogan Investments in 1980, which will make it all the more appealing to collectors of classic British makes.
This BBB is completely unsmoked, with a factory-original bowl coating to help ease in its first smokes. It also comes with its original box and sleeve. The pipe features a stinger, but it is removable for those who prefer to smoke without one.
