BBB Peacemaker 1 Metal Frame Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
‘BBB’ originally stood for ‘Blumfeld’s Best Briars’, so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Alfred Frankenau Company in 1856. Later, the pipes came to be known as ‘Britain’s Best Briars’. Though the name might have changed, the quality of the pipes did not – they really were fantastic pipes, made in the classic style of the English-French shape chart. Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, BBB are pipes with a rich history behind them, proudly holding the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.”
Metal pipes (as they are commonly known) have a particularly strong cult following. If you’ve ever known anyone that smokes a Falcon, for example, or a Kirsten, you’ll know what I mean. And there’s good reasons for that; they’re very cool, dry smokers (especially if you use dry rings, or just curled up bits of pipe cleaner), they’re typically incredibly lightweight (this one is just 30 grams!), and cleaning them could not be easier. If society didn’t frown upon it so much, I’d give that last job to my toddler – it’s that simple. Anyway, this particular metal pipe comes from BBB, and was the first model in their Peacemaker series, sold many decades ago. Everything I’ve said about other metal pipes applies to this one, with the added bonus of it being BBB that also made the briar bowl section.
As with most of BBB’s lines, the Peacemaker is not made anymore. Which is why it’s such a treat that this one is completely unsmoked, and comes with its original box and sleeve.
