BBB Bermuda 6760 D Smooth Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked [SOLD OUT]

Description
‘BBB’ originally stood for ‘Blumfeld’s Best Briars’, so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Alfred Frankenau Company in 1856. Later, the pipes came to be known as ‘Britain’s Best Briars’. Though the name might have changed, the quality of the pipes did not – they really were fantastic pipes, made in the classic style of the English-French shape chart. Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, BBB are pipes with a rich history behind them, proudly holding the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.”
This is not a shape that I would have expected the historic British make, BBB, to come up with. I suppose one could call it a straight apple or a Lovat, but that wouldn’t nearly do it justice. It’s got a bowl that’s halfway between an apple and a brandy, a triangular shank, and a half-saddle stem. Quite unique, right? Even my Danish pipe super-fan colleague thought it was very different. We both agreed, however, that it’s also very cool. Judging from the brass ‘BBB’ rondelle inlaid in the stem, I would presume that this pipe is also from before BBB’s merger with Cadogan Investments in the 1980s.
The pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original factory bowl coating for easing in the first smokes. There are a couple of knicks on the side of the bowl that must have accumulated over the many decades this one has survived, but they’re superficial and minor. The pipe also comes with its original box.
