Gold Banded Astleys Rusticated Group 3 Straight Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Out of stock

Description

Astleys was one of London’s most historic pipe and tobacco shops. Like many pipe tobacconists, its owners had pipes made specially to be sold under the shop’s name. Astleys pipes, however, were made by some of the premier pipe manufacturers and artisans in the UK, such as Dunhill, Charatan, Les Wood, and Ken Barnes and Barry Jones of James Upshall. As a result, Astleys pipes are prized for their quality, and as examples of the very finest British pipes.

This Astleys billiard is a beauty! A sleek, lightweight, micro-rusticated billiard with a collar supplied by the now-closed Jadales goldsmiths. Though the hallmarks are a little worn, they seem to indicate that this Astleys is a 1962 make, which makes its condition all the more impressive.

As stated, the condition is near-mint. I’m not entirely sure that the pipe has been smoked at all, but we’re going to err on the side of caution and classify it as pre-smoked (or, perhaps more accurately, pre-loved).
