Astleys of London, Smooth Bent Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, English Estates [SOLD OUT]

Description

At the beginning of this year, we had the privilege of auctioning a collection of Astleys pipes, primarily crafted by Les Wood. These pipes shared several characteristics, including Cumberland stems, Les’s signature on the silverwork, and a common “Hand Cut” stamp on the base of each stem. Recently, we acquired another extensive assortment of Astleys pipes, and we strongly believe that two of them were also created by Les Wood. To confirm, we contacted Les Wood for his insights, and he clarified that only he and Bill Taylor of Ashton used the “Hand Cut” stamp on the base of the stems made for Astleys. This Dublin shares the “Hand Cut” characteristic of the other Les Wood made Astleys pipes we’ve had.

 

Regardless of whether Bill Taylor or Les Wood made this pipe, you can’t go wrong.
