Description

Originally a science teacher in California, Nathan Armentrout began making pipes in 2009 and has since emerged as one of North America’s most talented, high-grade artisan pipe-makers. Inspired by Denmark’s legendary carvers, Nathan’s designs continue the legacy of the Danish pipe-making movement into the present day and expand that legacy through his own unique interpretations of the masters of old.

I’ll be honest, I was this close to just keeping this Armentrout. It is pipe perfection – there isn’t any other word for it. It is expertly designed, embodying something like the traditional Dublin shape, yet being able to balance upright on its ‘foot.’ It has a flawless, 360 degree ring grain sandblast around its bowl; a beautiful contrast stain in varying hues of dark red; and a rim that combines bare plateau at its furthest edge with a recessed ring of smooth bird’s-eye grain around the chamber. All of this is coupled with a two knuckle bamboo shank extension and a vulcanite mouthpiece with a delrin tenon. The pipe is also almost unfathomably light, coming in at just 36 grams.
