Ali Abdul Jabar Rusticated Dublin Handmade Briar Pipe, Indonesian Artisan (New) [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Ali Abdul Jabar is an artisan pipe-maker from Indonesia and one of the leading figures in the emerging Indonesian pipe-making scene. There is a clear Danish influence in Jabar’s pipes, which are often reminiscent of the work of icons such as Sixten Ivarsson, Bo Nordh, Lars Ivarsson, Jess Chonowitsch and Tom Eltang.
This particular pipe from Ali Jabar is an interesting take on the traditional Dublin, one that, owing to its flared ebonite saddle stem, almost reminds of the ‘Danish billiard’ seen more recently in the pipes of Adam Davidson and other Danish-American artisans. The use of horn is another interesting feature of this pipe, which has been masterfully sculpted. Together with the stummel, it cuts a curious bow-like figure when the pipe is viewed side-on. It’s a great design – classic, but with a twist. It’s also exceedingly light, meaning it’ll clench like a dream.
