Aldo Velani Colori 55 Green Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Aldo Velani pipes are made by Cesare Barontini at the latter’s factory in Italy. Originally, Aldo Velani was conceived by Mastercraft to be a new Italian make for the American market, as all of Mastercraft’s other pipes at the time were of English or French origin. Mastercraft partnered with Barontini, and thus the Aldo Velani make was born. More recently, Aldo Velani was acquired by Mitchell Thomas, with production – still by Barontini – recommencing after 2008.
“Billiards with more ball, bulldogs with more jaw” is purportedly how the spokesman for Lane Ltd, who imported Aldo Velani pipes, described their designs, and looking at this one, I’m inclined to agree. It’s a bent billiard, yes, but it’s far more muscular than average, with its proportions almost evoking a tall, bent pot. This shape is paired with a distinct, green theme, both in its stem and in the slight green tinge to its stain.
This Aldo Velani is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
