Description
To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.
Dunhill’s Tanshell series was introduced in 1953, with a sandblast finish much like the already-established Shell Briar. In the decades since, it has found a place among the most coveted of Dunhill’s pipes. This is in part because the requirements needed to manufacture a Tanshell exceed the Shell Briar, making the former far rarer; but it is also because of the Tanshell’s ability to showcase the beauty of sandblasted briar in its near-natural state.
The condition is great. Some minor, inner rim darkening. The pipe also comes with its original box, sleeve, and booklet.
