2016 Laughing Moon Reverse Calabash Stack Handmade Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Out of stock

Description

L. Pease once said that, “Robert Vacher, the man behind Laughing Moon Pipes, makes pipes that are much better than they have any right to be.” Vacher was an artisan pipe-maker from California, in the United States. He began making pipes around 1998/9, and had a dedicated following in the ensuing years. Vacher even helped the now-legendary Brian Ruthenberg with his early pipe-making endeavors.

While I’ve categorized this pipe as a stack, there’s a little more to it, both in form and function. The shape was—as far as I recall—pioneered by Danish artisan Tom Eltang, who named it the “Tubos.” Numerous variations on the theme have been conceived in the years since, including by Robert Vacher of Laughing Moon Pipes. This is one of the latter, which is dressed in a very Italian rustication style and houses a reverse calabash system in its shank. The stem is desert camouflage ebonite.

This pipe is completely unsmoked.
