Description

To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.

While originally named the Black Briar, Dunhill formally – no pun intended – introduced the Dress finish in 1979. As the name of the series suggests, these became the quintessential English “dress” pipe, i.e., a pipe suited for black tie balls or similarly sophisticated occasions. Of course, you don’t need to be embroiled in high society to appreciate such pipes. Their combination of a near-black, dark chocolate stain, black vulcanite, and a silver collar should be appealing to anyone that appreciates the finer things in life – or that simply appreciates a good looking, high-quality smoker.

The condition is great. There is a very minor amount of rim darkening, and some very slight handling marks around the bowl, but I would hesitate to even call these “cosmetic” imperfections.
