1992 Dunhill Bruyere 4103 Smooth Army Mount Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Description
To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.
I was genuinely surprised that this Dunhill ended up as a Bruyere. It has some of the nicest briar patterns – mostly straight grain, with some spots bordering on flame grain – that I’ve ever seen on a Dunhill of that grade. I would have thought it would have at least qualified for a Root finish, or even a Dead Root. In any case, it will be priced as a Bruyere, as that’s what Dunhill intended. As for the design, it’s a classic, group 4 army mount billiard. You can’t really beat Dunhills when it comes to that kind of design, I find, especially given how lightweight they always are.
The condition is excellent’ There’s some minor darkening on the innermost rim and a little bit of finish fading on that rim, but nothing major. This pipe came to us via our trade-in program, with its original box and sleeve.
