MBSD Pipes is a family business that curates tobacco pipes worldwide and makes them available for purchase. We offer our customers various services with a focus on customer service. In short, we bring tobacco pipes worldwide to your front door.

No. We have opted not to have a physical presence to maintain competitive pricing and pass along savings to our customers. However, you will see us at various pipe shows and conventions each year.

MBSD Pipes’ online-only operation is in Rockmart, Georgia, where we stock, restore, and ship our pipes.

Pipe measurement can be a bit confusing since pipe shapes vary. To standardize our measurement process, we use the guidelines below:

Pipe Measurement Tools: MBSD uses plastic calipers, wooden rulers, and postal scales that measure in 0.1-ounce increments.

Measurement of Pipe Length: MBSD measures the horizontal distance from the stem’s end to the bowl’s farthest point. Length is a measurement of the distance between the front of the bowl and the smoker, and NOT a measurement of the cumulative lengths of the stem, shank, and bowl. Larger bent pipes do not have very high “Length” measurements because they are so heavily bent.

One exception: For Churchwardens, “Saxophone” Meerschaums, and similar pipe styles, MBSD measures the length from the end of the stem to the furthest opposite point (often the shank or heel of the pipe rather than the bowl). We use the measurement to provide the most accurate description of a pipe’s length. For example, “Saxophone Meerschaum” could be 17 inches long but would measure only 5 inches using the standard technique because of the pipe’s heavy bend.

Measurement of Pipe Outside Diameter: MBSD measures the bowl’s widest point perpendicular to the smoker (i.e., left-right rather than front-back).

Measurement of Pipe Bowl Height: MBSD measures from the bottom of the bowl to the highest point on the bowl, including any additional carvings (such as ornamentation on a Meerschaum pipe).

Measurement of Pipe Chamber Diameter: MBSD measures the diameter of the chamber at the very top of the bowl. Therefore, conical bowls (most Dublins, for example) are measured at their widest point. Straight, vertical bowls will occasionally flare slightly at the top of the bowl (usually <0.05 inches). Any measurements halfway down the bowl could be slightly narrower than the listed diameter.

Measurement of Pipe Chamber Depth: MBSD measures from the deepest point of the bowl to the middle of the top of the bowl (so that if one side is higher than the other, the results are not skewed). If there is a doubt about where the top of the bowl is (such as in a Dublin or similar), MBSD does its best to determine how high the tobacco can be packed.

If the tobacco, smoking pipe, or accessory you are looking for is unavailable, subscribe to our once-off alerts to be notified when it returns to stock. You must be logged into your MBSDpipes account to use this service. To create an account only takes a few minutes. Once signed in, navigate to the product page of the tobacco you’re looking for, and click the “Email Me” link to be notified when the product returns in stock. When the product is made available, we will inform customers via email in the order that they signed up for the alerts. Recall that this is a one-time warning. You must repeat the above steps to subscribe for future notifications once the product is back in stock.

Yes, we sell a combination of both 6mm and 9mm filtered pipes. You can also filter (no pun intended) your search results by selecting either “6mm” or “9mm.”

At MBSD PIPES, we have several different payment methods available. The simplest is to use the secure shopping cart and use your American Express, Discover, VISA, or MasterCard credit/debit card at the checkout screen. MBSD PIPES also has a PayPal option at the checkout screen.

However, if you do not feel comfortable giving out your billing information online, you can checkout using the “offline payment” option and mail in a check or call in with your credit card number. Please be aware that checks or other instruments will delay shipment as we will wait for your check to clear. Any check that your issuing bank returns will incur a processing fee of $40.00, above and beyond the cost of invoiced merchandise. We reserve the recourse to enforce our rights through legal process. All orders that are placed with us are subject to the laws and regulations of Georgia, USA.

No, MBSD Pipes does not sell any smoking pipes for the use of smoking materials other than tobacco.

An “Unsmoked Pipe” is a tobacco pipe that has never been used to smoke tobacco. These pipes are typically brand new and pristine, with no visible signs of wear or discoloration.
