Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our new series of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

As with many of our Deluxe Meerschaum designs, I like to work with my carver in Turkey to bring shapes commonly found in modern, artisan briar pipes, into our Silver grade meerschaums. With this one, a lot of inspiration came from Danish Rhodesians, such as the stout and stubby renditions of Jens Tao Nielsen, but plenty of inspiration also came from the great Italian workshops, such as Caminetto, especially in the application of a mixed smooth and rusticated finish. While there’s certainly plenty of influence, the design is still its own thing, and also includes something not typically found in Danish or Italian pipes: a reverse calabash system, which helps to provide a cooler, drier, smoke.
