Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our new series of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

In the past we had a not-insignificant number of requests for “pre-colored” meerschaums. Some had been from smokers who don’t go through a bowl or more a day and who wanted a little head start getting some color on their meer; others had been smokers who enjoy the look of much older meerschaum pipes, such as those Barling and Peterson used to sell, which were often African meerschaum (now no longer mined) and pre-colored as standard. I realized recently that we hadn’t done any for a while, so I thought it would be good to have a couple in our Silver grade range. What I really like about this one is that my carver used the panels on this bent Dublin shape to add something of an Eastern patterning into the design, taking the form of a fine, sprawling motif on the bowl’s sides and rim. As for final touches, a bone-hued acrylic stem has been used to give the pipe a little old-world charm, and a reverse calabash system has been incorporated into the shank to reduce heat and moisture build up.
