Vauen 3968 Smooth Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
We’ve had a few of these NOS (new old stock) Vauens come in recently, and it’s been interesting to see how the designs have changed over the years. This looks to be an older model, with a marked preference for traditional shapes, such as this 1/8th bent billiard. The pipe features a reserved, reddish-brown stain, along with a tortoiseshell acrylic stem and a tasteful silver collar to tie the design together.
This Vauen is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. There are a couple of worn out fills, but nothing major at all. It comes with its original sleeve.
The pipe is chambered for 9mm filters as standard, but should accommodate an adapter of some variety if non-filtered use is preferred.
