Description

Nørding was founded by Erik Nørding in the 1960s, and is one of the oldest remaining companies to come out of the Scandinavian pipe-making renaissance that began in the mid-20th century. Now in his 80s, Erik Nørding is one of the most experienced and skilled pipe-makers in the world, and over the decades he has also been a teacher of other Danish masters, such as Poul Ilsted, Svend Axel Celius, Jens Tao Nielsen, Peder Jeppesen, and Søren Erik Andersen.

The idea behind Nording’s Nosewarmer series (also referred to as the Nose Warmer, the NoseWarmer, and the Nording Nose Warmer, or NNW), is one of creating distinctly Danish pipes that are, at the same time, relatively compact. While not quite as short as the nosewarmers of Anglo-French and Italian design, Nording’s is shorter than most of the workshop’s output, while also being most certainly Danish in style. This one is a scooping, diamond shank Dublin in a smoky contrast stain, and though it is around two ounces in weight, its angle may make it a comfortable enough clencher or hanger. Interestingly, like Nording’s Extra series, the Nosewarmers feature accents cut from various hardwoods and other exotic materials, such as in this one’s polymerized topical seed ferrule.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original sleeve.
