Dunhill Root Briar 6475 Smooth Cherrywood Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.
While its origins were in France (not to mention in a different medium altogether), to my mind, Dunhill just about perfected the “cherrywood” shape with the mid-century 6475. A lightweight, relatively compact sitter, it was not just a pinnacle of ergonomic design, it was also a real looker, especially with its rounded rim.
The condition is fair. The pipe has been professionally repaired with sterling silver, and there’s a touch of inner rim darkening.
