Description
Paul Becker is one of Germany’s most accomplished artisans, which is impressive given the competition he’s been up against over the decades. I’ve followed his career for many years—so many, in fact, that I remember when he used to stamp his pipes “Paul Becker,” instead of “PaulPipes.” You see, probably the only hurdle that Paul had to face during his career was confusions between him and the late, great Paulo Becker, back when Paolo was still around. This bent Dublin from Paul Becker demonstrates that, at the very least, he never had to worry about such confusions undermining his talent. In addition to being a lovely, flowing, and slightly asymmetrical, freehand Dublin, the bowl is loaded with flame grain and bird’s-eye. The stem is also inlaid with an exotic hardwood, which Becker frequently employs. Looks like African blackwood, but I could be wrong.
The condition is very good. Some inner rim charring, pushing the top of the chamber slightly out of round. The pipe is chambered for 9mm filters as standard, such as Vauen’s charcoal or Savinelli’s balsa varieties.
