Description

Stanwell is one of Denmark’s most celebrated and enduring pipe companies, having been founded by Poul Nielsen shortly after the second world war. Over the last six decades, Stanwell has established itself as both a leader in innovative Danish design and for producing well-priced pipes with precision construction and engineering. Many of its designs were created for the company by iconic pipe-makers in the Scandinavian scene, such as Sixten Ivarsson, Anne Julie, Jess Chonowitsch, and Tom Eltang.

Though Stanwell today is best known for its pioneering and adventurous designs in the Danish mold, it has never completely severed from its Anglo-French origins. Yes, that’s right—Stanwell, or rather Kyringe, was originally intended to produce pipes just like those of England, and the company’s first trademark was a very obvious nod to Sasieni. Pipes like this bent billiard have been in Stanwell’s catalog since before even Sixten Ivarsson’s designs were, with this Danish-made, 1998-2009 vintage, straight grain Royal Prince being a striking example of how well Stanwell can still pull off the classics.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening.
