Viprati Partially Rusticated Brandy Estate Briar Pipe, 9mm, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Much like in Denmark or Japan, many of the great names in Italian artisan pipe-making got their start working for other greats in their famous workshops. This was the case for artisans such as Giancarlo Guidi, Luigi Radice, Sergio Ascorti, and Maurizio Tombari. Luigi Viprati, on the other hand, is one of the few self-taught Italian pipe-makers of the 20th century to have reached the same heights as such contemporaries. First picking up the craft in 1972, Viprati would ultimately become one of the defining names in Italian pipes, which he remains to this day.
9mm options are relatively uncommon in the world of Italian pipes, so it is refreshing to find handmades from the nation’s master carvers that will accommodate a charcoal or balsa filter. This partially rusticated Danish-Italian brandy shows off some striking straight grain and bird’s-eye patterns, and is adorned with a sterling silver trim for an extra touch of class.
The condition is fair. Some rim charring and finish fading. As stated, this pipe is chambered for 9mm filters as standard.
