Mastro Cascia 4 Star Smooth Sitter w/ Olivewood Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Mastro Cascia has been making pipes for around 25 years now, and having been familiar with his work for a long time, I’d go so far as to consider him as a natural successor to another great Italian pipe-maker: Tommaso Spanu. Like Tom Spanu, Cascia is great at freehand shaping some really elegant designs; he’s also very versatile in the mediums he employs, with one key overlap being in his use of olivastro, or olive wood. This plateau top sitter is a little reminiscent of Barry Jones’ “cup and saucer” for Charatan, especially in its marvelous use of straight grain. In his signature style, Cascia has paired this with a Lucite stem and an olive wood shank extension.
The condition is very good. A little rim darkening, but nothing major.
