Description
Originally a science teacher in California, Nathan Armentrout began making pipes in 2009 and has since emerged as one of North America’s most talented, high-grade artisan pipe-makers. Inspired by Denmark’s legendary carvers, Nathan’s designs continue the legacy of the Danish pipe-making movement into the present day and expand that legacy through his own unique interpretations of the masters of old.
The bullcap is not a shape I’m used to seeing from the artisan community, so I was very pleased to receive this one in the most recent batch from Nathan Armentrout. The pipe features the same bull-jawed profile seen in versions from classic American makes like Custom-Bilt and LHS, but with Nathan’s own, distinct touch. Chief among them is a jagged plateau rim, which gives the shape an even more assertive posture. The pipe also features a crisp sandblast, a boxwood ring, and a hand cut, dark green ebonite stem.
