Description
Hungarian-Canadian artisan Julius Vesz carved his first pipe all the way back in 1959, and continues making pipes today in the 2020s. With 60 years of experience in the craft, he is recognized as one of the most seasoned and skilled pipe-makers around, counting among his admirers luminaries such as Richard Carleton Hacker, who remarked upon the ‘rare elegance’ inherent to Vesz’s work.
Julius Vesz’s Hand Made pipes bear a particular property that many artisans would do unspeakable things for: they are made from Vesz’s enviable hoard of aged briar, which he has been collecting for decades. The bowls that emerge from this briar are then fitted with hand cut German ebonite. This particular Hand Made is a classic bent Dublin, dressed in a very fine rustication style that, I must admit, reminds me a little of Peter Brakner, or even Ferndown.
The condition is very good. Some minor rim wear.
