Mastro Geppetto 2024 Pipe of the Year Rusticato Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Description
Mastro Geppetto pipes are made by the Italian workshop brand Ser Jacopo. One could call them Ser Jacopo’s series of ‘affordable’ pipes, and while this would be correct purely from the standpoint of price, it wouldn’t be entirely fair to them in other regards. Geppetto pipes are hand made from the same high-grade briar as Ser Jacopo pipes, but the former do not use the plateau cuts that the latter does, which are more expensive; Geppetto pipes also tend to be simpler shapes, meaning they do not require the use of the highly technical flexible drilling machinery that Ser Jacopo’s wilder shapes do.
As with Ser Jacopo, Mastro Geppetto has its own, limited edition pipe of the year series. Just as Mastro Geppetto’s typical pipe shapes are distinct from Ser Jacopo’s, the former’s pipes of the year are wholly distinct from the latter’s annual “Domina” releases. One thing that does unite the two, however, is the presence of decorative silverwork, with Mastro Geppetto’s pipes of the year tending to have highly ornate, sterling silver army mounts to complement their refined designs. This particular pipe of the year is a very traditional, bent billiard, dressed in a the more modern Ser Jacopo house rustication style, and fitted with a similarly modern, flared Lucite stem.
This Mastro Geppetto is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It also comes with its original presentation case and sleeve.
