Description

Tendi is the name used by Graziano Tendi, an artisan pipe-maker from Italy. Tendi became enamored with tobacco pipes as a teenager, before beginning to collect and restore them. After developing his restoration skills, Tendi turned his attention to making his own pipes, which he has continued to do for the last ten years. While Tendi makes pipes in a variety of styles, the majority of his works are traditional shapes in the Anglo-French mold, which makes him quite rare among his contemporaries in Italy and abroad.

As I’ve intimated, Graziano Tendi typically makes traditionally-inclined pipes—which are immaculate, I must say—but that hasn’t stopped him from exploring other styles. This Danish, or Danish-American, apple, with its aesthetics closer to someone like Nanna Ivarsson, Tao, or J. Alan than any mid-century factory make, is a welcome addition to Tendi’s portfolio, and proves that he can pull of modern pipes just as well as the classics. The exotic wood ferrule is a nice extra touch too. I wonder what it might be. Spalted maple, or tamarind, perhaps?

The condition is great. Some small tooth marks in the ebonite stem, but nothing major.
