John Peel by Barling Sandblasted Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
John Peel is a pipe make that appears to have fueled debates within the community for a long time. Exactly who made them—and, perhaps more importantly, when they made them—is still being pondered, as more John Peel pipes turn up on the estates circuit. This is an example of one of Barling’s John Peel pipes, as clearly shown by the “BB&S” nomenclature. But then, the question is “When did Barling make this pipe?” After all, Barling’s ownership and production staff underwent numerous changes over the course of the 20th (and now 21st) century, with important implications for the pipes themselves (family era, transition era, post-transition, etc.). I can’t be sure, so I’ll leave that up to the buyer to decide.
The condition is fair. Rim darkening and minor finish fading.
