De La Warr Magnum Bamboo Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Other Estates
Out of stock
Description
I always feel a pang of shame when I can’t identify a pipe. This is especially the case when the pipe is as nice as this one. If I had to guess, I’d guess it was made by an American artisan, probably in the second half of the 20th century when the great American freehand carvers, like Tim West and Randy Wiley, came to prominence. The pipe itself is an extraordinarily large freehand, with excellent shaping that allows the briar’s natural straight grain to fully express itself, along with a bamboo shank extension. If you happen to know who this De La Warr was, please let me know.
The condition is great. Some minor handling marks.
