Vauen Fashion 200 Smooth Facet Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
As with many series put out by Vauen, the Fashion has changed significantly in design over the years. As far as I’m aware, Vauen does still make Fashion series pipes, but as you can imagine, they don’t look like this one. In fact, they’re completely different. The contemporary Fashion series features aluminum trims and cumberland-hued stems, whereas this one, while certainly having a unique shape, seems to be all about the grain. It may well have some of the nicest grain I’ve ever seen on a Vauen pipe, and Vauen is hardly a low-end make. The shape only adds to the effect of these grain patterns, with the pipe’s distinct hexagonal bowl having flame swirling around the stummel and folding over each panel.
This Vauen is also completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It also comes with its original box and sleeve, though the box and sleeve are a little weathered (the pipe itself is pristine). As with most Vauens, this one is chambered for 9mm filters as standard, but would likely accommodate an adapter of some variety if its owner prefers their smokes unfiltered.
