Savinelli Capri Root Briar 310 Rusticated Poker Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Savinelli’s Capri series were some of the earliest pipes offered by the make, and have been in and out of production throughout the make’s lifetime, though they were last made at least a decade ago. They feature the quintessentially Italian, pebble-dash rustication motif found across the nation’s great makes – Castello’s Sea Rock, Caminetto’s Business, Radice’s Rind, and so on. This Capri Root Briar wears a burgundy-black stain over its rocky stummel, and looks to be (though the stamping is slightly faded) rendered in the make’s 310 poker shape. One other thing of note is that this pipe’s stem is vulcanite rather than the now-standard lucite, and is not chambered for a 6mm filter, as most Savinelli pipes are these days.
The condition is good. There’s certainly some rim darkening and some char on the inner rim, but the pipe’s rugged finish allows these imperfections to not detract from its intended aesthetic too much.
