Early Kaywoodie Super Grain 5006 Smooth Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Big 4 Hole Stinger, American Estates
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
As evinced by the four-digit shape code and “Kaywoodie” nomenclature, this particular Kaywoodie dates from prior to 1936, with the Super Grain series (to which this one belongs) debuting at the beginning of the 1930s. This one is a classic and very lightweight Dublin shape, which should ensure that it clenches better than just about any other.
For an approximately 90 year-old pipe, the condition is good. The rim has some significant wear to it in the form of darkening, scratches, and some light char on the inner lip of the chamber, but on the whole it’s survived better than most pipes even half its age.
